Hi I took the car for a long drive yesterday around the South Coast of Devon,on the way home along the A38 it started to jump out of 5th gear.Ok if i held it in,also seemed worse at higher speeds.Does anyone know if this is a gearbox out and rebuild or is there something simpler?
    Thanks in advance!

I would hazard a guess at the selector fork being worn and not fully engaging the gear so it pops out under power. Often caused by holding the gear stick while driving.

I've heard that sometimes low gearbox fluid causes this too but that is on modern gearboxes so not sure about the old ones.

Possibly bearings "walking" slightly on shaft?
