    For Sale:

    L28 3.3ltr short engine.
    89mm bore x 89mm stoke = 3322cc
Engineered by Les Collins Racing. Built by myself under his direct guidance.

F54 block. Acid dipped, 1/2 grout fill, sonic tested & offset bored to 89mm,
& finial Diamond honed to exact clearance.
Deck milled parallel to crank tunnel centreline.
Clearanced crankcase, de-burred & painted in Gyptal.
New gallery plugs. Blanked oil pressure relief port.
    Standard sump & pickup.

Modified 89mm stroke crankshaft, oil gallery plugs tapped & plugged.
Custom CNC billet steel 8.8kg flywheel to suit crank (no clutch assy).

137mm I-beam connecting rods with ARP2000 rod bolts.
Custom SPS 89mm forged pistons – designed to work with a P90 head.

New timing chain guides & new Kameari HD timing chain.
New OEM front timing cover (de-burred, polished & water-jet blasted) fitted with replated bolts.
    New Water pump.

*This short engine requires a P90 head to be used.*

Depending on the specification of the head, cam & induction,
this short engine had the potential to make 330hp & 280ft’lbs of torque.

Please note however, that this IS NOT a race engine.
I built this as a fast road engine for my 240Z only.

I have the full build sheet (in Excel) available to prospective buyers
Lots of time & money has been spent on this, so my loss is your gain.
To recreate this short engine now, would cost over $14,000 Australian, so I’m selling below cost.

    Price: $13,000 Australian.
Contact me here via PM, or email: ljfowler (at) dcsi.net.au
    EFT payment ONLY.
I can package & ship internationally at buyers expense.

Any further information / questions can also be forwarded to Les Collins Racing: http://lescollinsracing.com/contact

Option 2: I can supply this with a rebuilt P90 & suitable camshaft, and make it a complete long motor for extra $.
Please PM me if you’d like to discuss this option.

Any question pertaining to this engine, please ask.

Why such a heavy flywheel ?

Due to the mounting offset on the crank, they can't be made any lighter.

Thanks - that must have taken some trial and error to decide upon....and why engines like this do cost (for all the prior investment and blocks refused etc) !

    Indeed.
I bought 4 complete L28 engines (@ AUS$500 a pop) to get this one block that would take a 89mm bore...

I would have loved it Sean, but with the poor exchange rate, shipping, duty etc it made it very expensive.

Duty can be wrangled, shipping quotes obtained....the exchange rate on the other hand is your own doing.:p

Apart from yourself Matt, I had another UK member interested in buying it.

I was willing to help as much I could with the sale receipt & finding the best price for freight, however it's apparently still an expensive process for a UK buyer even with the exchange rate the way it is ATM.

Maybe us 'Colonists' put a bit more value on engines of this quality...

Sadly Lurch, a fair percentage of UK S30 owners would consider even a £3K engine excessive, some of this is due to the small amount of S30's sold into the UK, some of this the lingering perception of early(ish) Japanese cars....some of it the rather "cheap" nature of the owner demographic

    Really nice engine BTW

We do, you have to think that due to exchange rates its about 20% more than a year ago.

If you suddenly put your prices up in OZ by 20% would it affect things?

Thats the way to look at it.

    Agree Franky.

If the exchange rate wasn't such a killer you would have seen a few more UK buyers making serious enquiries. There are many of us over here that appreciate engines like this, it's just come at a very bad time for many of us due to the weak pound.
