Engines

at the moment its in my cavalier but have totally fallen for a Z shape plus the saabs easy to work on and I know the engine, my only concern now would be which box to fit ?, the vauxhall omega box mounts to the saab engine but looks bigger than the Z one.

By height by a mile but not by length, but as it runs a remote shift you could position it to suit.
Prop shaft would need a bit of thought as the Z runs a single piece prop with no centre bearing, so you would end up with a longer prop by quite a bit I guess?

What sump would you run as that would need to be rear bowl ?

Im trying to find a gearbox that would fit into a Z and fit my saab engine, now does anyone know if any of these fit, only asking as I have no idea what sizes will fit.

Omega r25 ( cable clutch ) r28 ( hydraulic clutch )
Manta 18s
Bmw m3 with 18s 4speed bellhouse
Senator 24v getrag with 18s 4speed bellhouse

I would imagine very few people on here have tried to fit any of those gearboxes with a saab engine into a 240z. I have squeezed a Toyotas R154 box in and pushed it a long way back in the car. It just fits and I mean just. It nearly touches the tunnel in several places. I would say as long as the boxes above are smaller than the R154 then your in luck and it should fit. In most case it will also depend how far back you want to put the engine.
