Engine rebuild

Fitted the replacement spray bar today, and the exhaust is still blowing

So... what is the rough cost of a rebuild, assuming rings and valves need doing?

It's cheaper to buy a good 2.8 motor I reckon.

I may have to consider that when the time comes, but I really don't want to bin the engine!

I take it the whole engine has to come out to do the rings as the crossmember stops you dropping the front two pistons out the oil pan?
