Clutch Pedal Solid

Hi Guys,

As stated my clutch pedal is solid. Car not moved for about 2 months.

Where do I start. Master or Slave cylinder?

When I say solid I mean it! 0 movement at all!

Can you unwind the clutch pipe union at the master cylinder a couple of turns, wrap a rag around it to catch any fluid, if any comes out, then see if you can press the pedal down?

Mine just did this, and it was the slave - the rod had just rusted in place after not being used for a while.

At the price of replacements, it's probably easiest to just swap both (from my experience) especially as a fully working new master can ofter break an older slave anyhow, so not always a simple case of just swapping one!

Unfortunately the pipe has rounded off and I can't undo it!

I'll probably just cut it off and replace the lot. Add it to the list of jobs then!

Same bore size, not sure about the pushrod length but you could always change that for your existing one. I have a 280 one somewhere, I'll look it out and let you know.

Cut the pipe and the pedal moves freely. Shopping for a slave it is then I guess!
