Clutch bleeding Help!....

Hi,
I've just fitted a new clutch slave cylinder to the 300ZX, after it failed during Billing weekend!
I can't seem to be able to bleed all the air out of the system though....Has anyone any tips?
After 2 hours pushing and pulling the clutch pedal and opening and closing the bleed screws, with bleed hose attached, I've got two jamjars of clutch fluid, but the pedal is still not operating fully.

Hi Jez,
i had the same problem no matter what i did it still left the pedal on the floor, then i came up with the bright idea of pushing and pulling the pedal fully either way as fast as i could and bingo it started to get all the pressure back and the pedal moved to where it was supposed to be with the correct pressure.
It could have just been luck but i dont think so,i recon that it had an airlock somewhere in the system, by doing what i did i noticed a lot more bubbles in the master cylinder(i had left the cap of),whatever it worked for me,ps i had even removed the clutch master cylinder and stripped it thinking it was at fault,so try the above before you start stripping because it is not a very comfortable job.
cheers .

Cheerz,
I think I too may have an airlock in the system.I'll try your method....failing that it's round to the local garage in second gear (good for 63mph I believe!! ) for a professional system bleed! At least I can declutch to stop....Just can't select a gear!

Note that there is a clutch damper unit in the system which has its own bleed screw. Have you bled from this point also - the airlock might be in the damper if the system was fully drained? Try also cracking the master cylinder outlet pipe tube nut and bleeding any air direct from the master cylinder to improve its ability to push fluid trough the rest of the system.

Hi,
I did bleed the damper as well, as per the 'Haynes Manual' but the clutch is still only partially releasing. There is a bleed screw on the master cylinder too, which I haven't touched.
I'll have another look today!

Hi,
I tried the push-me pull-you speed method and sure enough the pedal has been restored to it's former position. With the master cylinder cap off, all the remaining air appears to have been expelled.
I drove round the block this evening and was able to change gear as normal!
