broken speedo

hi all can i pick your brains .having a problem with my speedo on my 280z 4 speed .speedo work when i put a electric drill on the gear box end but when connected to the gear box no joy. think its the gear box drive . can you remove this without dropping all my new transmition oil ? also dose anyone have one for sale many thanks chris

I *think* the speedo drive thing may be above the level of the oil so you can take it out safely. Probably [emoji849].
The speedo drive gear is offset on it’s carrier, and so may need to be rotated a little to make it mesh with the gear in the box.
There’s lots of pics on the interweb if that doesn’t make sense.
