It's amazing how fast this project has gone. The workshop looks cool with all those Zs inside :)

I think it's a good colour choice, I've even got the same colour as my Z club theme "Classic"...

Spent yesterday afternoon stripping paint. The tailgates now all back to metal and still looks in good shape so not a lot to do to it, other than get the lock panel straight. I also stripped the lower half of the doors and the passenger side shell is good so I just need a lower repair panel for that one. Drivers side is not salvageable so I'll have a look at the spare in the lockup today. I don't want to have to do the doors again in 5 years so I'll take my time with the lower repair and try to create a joggled joint and puddle welds. It looks like the only section that goes on these is the lower 2" so I don't mind replacing that.

Back to colours!!!!!

Went to get some paint today and the guy there found a berger swatch for Datsun 918 orange. It was horrible. Far too dark and more brown than orange. So now I don't know what to do. On the internet the cars I've seen look good in 918 but it may be the colour just looks different in a picture. I'm now thinking about just choosing a shade that I like rather than having the paint mixed to the actual Datsun formula. They can only supply it in base and clear as well if I want the actual colour.

Choosing a colour is definitely not easy since you have to live with it ofcourse... If the standard Datsun colours don't work for you, how about a modern Nissan colour just to keep it in the family??

Been looking after the shop today Jon so the picture was taken there.

Richie - Its one of Sean's RHD manifolds but I don't know what size!!! That may sound a bit odd but I feel my engine is on the boarder line so either would suit it and I probably couldn't tell the difference anyway. The deciding factor was this one coming up for sale at half price. With regard to fit, its designed for a 240z so surely they wouldn't be able to sell them if they didn't fit?

Sean was selling these on eBay for a while a few months back. I nearly picked one up as they were a great deal at the prices they were going for. Wish I had now tbh to put on the parts shelf.

FYI, the Fujitsubo I have on my car is 1 3/4" (45mm) primary. That's on a 200-and-something HP L28. Is it offering a benefit or impediment? - my seat of pants dyno says benefit over the naff MSA manifold and system it used to have. In Japan, you see manifolds with 45mm primaries like the Fujitsubo on L20s, nevermind on L28s, 3.1s, 3.2s etc. Make of that what you will...

The fitment issue I recall was that the Y-pipe design means that you need to take a mallet to the front corner of the floorpan/tunnel to make room for it. I've seen one photo on Facebook where someone has actually cut the floor out to make room, presumably to fabricate a new piece to give clearance. This would be my prime concern - there's no way I would redesign my car with blunt-force trauma to fit an exhaust (again... don't ask ).
