4 BOA resurrection.

In my case its more like procrastination and all-too-easy distraction.

I've had most of my attention focused on a bricks and mortar restoration/refurbishment for the last two years or so. A sorry tale of woe that I won't bore you with.#

Let's not hijack the 4 BOA resurrection thread though...

Indeed. Jon - totally go with 920. It's a cool colour for the car and you don't see many in this country in it. And, as shown by Alan and Dave's cars, and that other photo I posted, it looks cool with dark wheels. That's the combo I'd go with.

You should really go for the colour that takes your fancy regardless as to whether someone else has it already, no two shades will be absolutely identical either.... I quite like the idea of two lime green cars racing each other at the pod... ;)

Mr G if your forgetting where Jon is restoring his car, I am at this moment in time having the 112 colour matched and will have a few test card formulas to view, also the paint mixing shop is not far so if John went for that colour it would be like twins on a day out :D

George, I couldn't use Terry's workshop and body man then paint my car the same colour (much as I'd like to) as it wouldn't be right. 920 looks favourite but still need to look at both this and the orange to make my mind up. I've got at least a month or so before I'm ready to paint. Only working 1 day a week on the car means its not going to be quick but still want it done before the end of the summer.

Had a really productive day today. Replaced both rear inner arches and finished off all the little bits of welding. Just got to replace the rear valance and tailgate slam panel which I'll do next Saturday. The body guy will start on the rear quarters while I get on with this. Then he will concentrate on the outside while I do the interior, engine bay and underside, getting it ready for paint.

Now you put it like that I get what you mean.... It will be a stunner whatever colour you go for..:)

Looks like the JohnyMd express train is on the move again, I can see this car being ready by Summer.... Very inspiring. Looking forward to the next pic installments.

This is the look I like.

Although Steve used to run it a lot lower than this.

And another.

He's totally cheating there. Easy to get Fairlady Z emblem on the spoiler but 240Z quarter emblems instead of the incredibly-difficult-to-find-and-brutally-expensive-when-you-do early style round "Z" emblems. Half a job!

I like those 240z quarter emblems and as I'm not the purist I'd like to fit them if possible.

It was the general colour and stance I was actually referring to. Along with the lack of gutter trim which I like. Remember, I'm not building a replica, just something I like.

The stance looks perfect. As I've said before, that colour looks great with dark coloured wheels like Watanabes too.

I didn't notice the gutter trim till you pointed it out. Actually works okay. The gutters are still there thankfully. I'm not a fan of the gutters being removed completely (which I've seen a couple of times, one time being another car I was considering before I bought my FairladyZ).

Is this the colour you went for Franky? Although I'm drawn to the 920 I keep coming back to this.

I think it looks good without the trim but you need the gutter as you said Richie. Satin black wheels are the only way I'll go. Probably powdercoat the revolution 5 spokes that came with the car and loose the polished lip. They are 7 x 15 (although marked 6 x 15) so the size should just about work with a small spacer.

Day 3 - I decided the rear valance was too corroded and dented to bother repairing so I cut it out the morning and fitted a new one. Very satisfying to now have solid bumper mounts and a fresh new panel. Was going to replace the tailgate slam panel but on closer inspection it only really needed the passenger side corner repairing so that's what I did. Had a final check over the car for any more repairs then moved onto filler.

Tom was a great help today and was given the job of stripping the wiper cowl back to bare metal and then Terry etch primed it.

Day 4. Another successful one. Seal sealed the entire underside and gravitexed the lot. Ain't no water getting in the seams now. Also stripped down and assessed the doors and tailgate. Well the tailgates in good nick. I'll have to have a think about what to do with the doors. Would like to put a pair of cali import rust free one's on it as the rest of the car is so good but I may have to repair what I've got and replace them when something comes along. Unless someone's got a pair? They need to be good though as I've already got 2 pairs of average ones to choose from.

Here's a few pics.
