It is all a bit tight but everything clears. Most areas clear by only a few MM so getting it in exactly the right place was critical. The stearing coupling may have to be changed for a uj the same as the bottom as it's probably a bit too tight in that area.

I used an 80ton cnc press to bend up the gearbox mount as it's very difficult to bend 5mm steel any other way.

Got a fare bit done today but never as much as I hoped.

With the prop shaft collected yesterday I test fitted it this morning. I've settled for a single piece prop as there really wasn't enough room for the lexus 2 piece. This meant that the gearbox location became more critical due to the Giubo joint at the gearbox end. This meant raising the rear of the gearbox by 25mm and moving it across by 3mm. With this all finalised I could remove the engine and box to finish the engine bay. I then spent move of the afternoon welding the 32 spare holes I wouldn't be using!!! I also removed the wings and headlight bucket as I may as well check for rot. Everything is in amazing condition for its age so will just need a scuff and repaint in red.

Also cleaned the engine and box.

Thanks Tel. As you know, prep seams never ending so it's a relief when th colour gets applied.

I'm using a standard zed rack Mark.

I remember when I did the engine bay on my track car it was a milestone when I had sprayed it - so rewarding.

You haven't had to do what I did though - big repairs on inner wings, chassis legs, rad panel and lower bulkhead! You've only had to wipe it over with 'thinners' what kept you? ;)

Finished getting the car ready for paint. I've welded up all the trim holes along with the side indicator/running lights and rear impact bumper shock holes. Refitted the wings to verify the fit. Then pushed it outside for a good clean and jetwash inside and out.

Well they made a start on the car today. Originally the were only going to sand the whole car and bare metal when required. Had a call from them today to say they want to remove all the paint so they know exactly what was underneath which I ok'ed. Popped my head in this afternoon and they are getting on well. They are also very happy with the condition and hope to have it in primer tomorrow.
