280z Tuning

...........But the more Z's I look at with the L series engine in, the more I'm warming to keeping the L28 and tuning it.
What are my options, and the best order to go about them. I've read on a few US boards that the standard efi system is gash, and is unmodifiable and unreliable. (its also ugly as sin, under my bonnet looks messy and unruly with all the emissions related pipes and fuel pipes, and wiring. ............

Why not ditch the standard Fi, fit a 240Z Hitachi/SU set-up, decent exhaust and drive it for a while? Then decide based on how you feel about your Z. :)

I'm no expert but no amount of carbs will get this weezy old lump going on their own

Low compression etc

Perhaps you should as Sean why he is so keen to but them so quickly..... and he is no weezy old lump..... I can accept lump, old and possibly whingey but definitely not weezy as he don't smoke......;)

Thanks....I think !

Keen because they're a lot more 260Zs still on the roads over here and their OEM carbs are getting old and worn - useful upgrade - 240Z carbs !

That would be awesome :D

I believe Geoff Gale still has blow-through Janspeed turbo setup for sale, If i was in your position I'd go down that route. If you don't like it or the power isn't enough just unbolt and sell.

Blow through? That a Carb based kit then? What happens with the internals and compression ratio? Or does it just run low boost and keep the same? Sounds interesting anyway

Yes and no.

Yes because more power, higher spec.

No because it's no longer stock/OEM.

Depends upon the client on the day....?
