Tom,

I am looking at upgrading my brakes using Toyota 4 pot option, are these the right calipers?

If you are planning to use vented discs this is the caliper you want with samesize pistons. Can't remeber the year but I think it's 84 to 89. The number on the sticker I think refers to the reconditioning company.

Jay,

As Nigel pointed out there's two types, one for vented, on for solid. If you want to use standard 240/260 discs you want solid, if your upgrading discs too then vented. Let me know if your still thinking about doing the swap and I'll have a better look (although I only know this from reading up, not experience)

Bled the brakes on the car today and noticed when vigorously pumped there is brake fluid leaking from inside the caliper, anyone know what I should be looking for?

sounds like the seals have gone or the pistons are worn/pitted

Ended up ordering a set of 4 piston calipers and some vented discs from Silver Mine Motors, very impressed with the service from Edan and only took 2 weeks to be delivered. Also ordered some new wheels and an ally radiator, looking forward to fitting them all

Not updated this in a while so thought I should, a big thanks to tel as per usual for all his
help and advice on the car. Got the new brakes on, new ally rad and fans and wheels

Played a game of find out what the clunking noise is

When I picked up the car the front had been damaged and repaired a few times, managed to do some further damage myself so the car looked like this:

Cut the damaged area off:

Add a bit of glass magic:

Just waiting for paint now, the lip should be about 50mm higher now (trying to drop the car about that much so will not gain anything).

Next job is fitting a GAZ suspension setup, just waiting on some final fittings to come int, currently trying to repair a dashboard and mount some new dials in and want to look at some new seats at some point.
Also looking at converting the oil cooler setup from a pressure based one (bad idea) to a thermostatically controlled one. Have the usual moan of being too busy at work, hopefully its calming down now and I can get back to doing a bit more

The repaired spoiler will make a massive difference to the car. Be good to see you getting out in it a bit.

You know I still have the mould to make the bottom half of that G-nose kit new...?

I did not know that! Would certainly have helped but as there was a modification to get the extra clearance there still would have been a bit of fettling even with a good mould

Spent a few days recently at Tel's doing the GAZ suspension and cleanup work

Rear suspension, not in bad condition but in need of tidy:

Old stock suspension:

All of the legs off:

Looking a bit neater at the rear:

Now some spot the difference, old vs new ball joints:

Gearbox mount:

Steering rack bushes:

Underside looking a bit tidier:

Still need to do the setup on it, but looking a bit better back on its wheels:

Looking good Tom. Just for info, I set my damper to 3 for the road and 15 clicks for the track.

Seeing that gearbox mount reminds me I must get one for mine. Where did you get it from?
