    Inflate to your liking 😉 others might have stated a 250hp engine. That's why I said never look at engine hp, wheel hp is the only thing that gets measured at the dyno.

    Just as a reference: While my car peaked out at 197hp at the wheels, the calculated flywheel hp is 210hp. This means there's a drivetrain loss of 13hp / 6%.

    That has nothing to do with drums sticking. It's usually just a measure to make owners happy :) That's why you should never compare engine hp but whp.

    Numbers do look nice, but did you question how you get from 166 whp to 284 HP at the flywheel? Usually there's no more than 15-20% loss.

    The 280zx pinch type lock nuts destroyed the threads upon removal, therefore I've been looking for a nylon type lock nut. Renault part number 7703034250 It is an actual axle lock nut.

    Don't even bother using the two piece design seal. Not worth the effort 😉 Nissan oe is still available at the dealership.

    Nissan oe is a one piece design with integrated metal strip, orientation doesn't matter. Aftermarket ones are with a separate metal strip and will leak eventually (in my experience).

    Also the metal strip needs to face towards the crankshaft. If one is the other way around, that's your issue.

    No need to pull the main cap. I didn't struggle at least. It might be different in case the old side seals are really glued in or so.

    Agreed. You can pull out the old side seals with a pair of needle nose pliers (to get started, I used a screwdriver). Then use brake cleaner to clean the slot. Apply some RTV on the side seals, push them all the way in until they bottom out. I think you have to trim them so that they sit flush...

    Installed these 280zx transmission to engine stiffening things. Just because they came out so pretty after bead blasting. Is there any official Nissan document about why this part was introduced?

    I took a cheap 14mm ring spanner which I ground to a smaller OD. Quite useful in many places!

    Put the gearbox back in (was leaking before). Went in surprisingly smooth.. 20 minutes and I was done.

    Guys, keep in mind that high strengh bolts (eg suspension) may lose quite some strength due to zinc coating (hydrogen embrittlement). At least if the plating guy does not perform a special aftertreatment.

    Finally done, bc coilovers installed - just before the winter break. I took the car for a quick spin, I can't believe how much handling has improved (also ride quality)
