    Washer Pump 280zx

By way of update........... I checked operation off the car with a battery, still dead. After looking at the washer pump on the bench it looked like it was possible to strip it down and as I had nothing to lose I made a start. It is held together with four bent over tabs which retain the...

    Washer Pump 280zx

Hi It seems my washer pump for the front screen has decided to give up the ghost. Does anyone know if they are still available to buy or is it a case of looking to ebay/USA for a second hand replacement. It does have a mounting clip and connector block so a universal one would need to be fitted...

    Thermostat housing

Looking around the engine bay I noticed that a number of the cooling hoses were getting a little wrubbery and there were signs of leaking on some of the heater hoses as well as around the thermostat hsg to engine block; nothing serious just looked like it might be if left much longer. First...

Nice garage, we looked at a couple of 4M's but for the money we wanted to spend couldn't really find a reasonable example without getting into high mileage cars. The other car in my garage is a 1937 Austin 7 Ruby, I suppose I could put the Daizzy engine in that and see what happens...:):):)

So taking a title from a C4 programme........its strange how in life events happen and suddenly you have to make decisions not previously remotely considered. 1. For the past year my wife has been looking to change her 2007 Mini Cooper S R56 for something else such as a Subaru BRZ, Fiat 124...

    Ignition Barrel

Finally got round to replacing the ignition switch. What I probably didn't appreciate was the difficulty of getting the steering wheel cowl off especially when working with +40 year old plastic - neurosurgeons have an easier job. Once that was achieved then the lower dashboard panel also had to...

    Ignition Barrel

Rock Autos are doing a switch which is less than £30 delivered incl import charge which is quite a bit cheaper than those on Ebay. Will be ordering one tomorrow :) As for the ignition key the one I have is actually on a HD UK made blank so will visit the locksmith in Staple Hill and see what he...

    Ignition Barrel

I can see that getting the whole unit out is a bit of a phaff with the shear screws etc so now think (after all the comments) that a new switch is the way to go :) I would like to think my skills would reach to fabricating a new terminal and soldering it on but would only be kidding myself. Huw...

    Ignition Barrel

Thanks for the response Mark am I reading it right that you can just replace the switch unit on the end of the barrel? As I only have one key for my current ignition and use a different one for the doors/hatch it might be better for me to get a complete unit from US with 2 keys at not much more...

    Ignition Barrel

Has anyone else had a similar problem. When starting the car on the key it does nothing for a number of turns, can be anything from 1 to 6 before the car turns over. I have tried turning the key quicker etc but nothing seems to make any difference and eventually it fires up for no rhyme or...

    Just asking.......

Thanks all, no issues. Yes if I could get the fill plug out then it wouldn't be an issue. A square socket would definetly help as struggling with other tools. Ah well back to the drawing board......

    Just asking.......

Great Mark how did you find it, how much gearbox oil did you get out and did it flow easily? Sorry for the questions but am keen to give it a try but want to understand any pitfalls or best practice :)

    Just asking.......

Has anyone used a pump to change gearbox oil, I have seen them used on sump oil and thought it might work with the gearbox. Appreciate the viscosity of oil is heavier but I am more unsure if it is possible to get a pipe down through the top with lever removed etc. As I say just asking :)

Spare wheel, who actually has one onboard?

Yes, that makes sense - I may just take the chance and buy one off fleabay and hope that the offset and inside clears the calipers etc - now just need to decide what make to go for.........
