Had forgotten how lively this forum is! Expected little response but have been overwhelmed by the number of comments on here - and all of them supportive and positive. I promise that the next time the Z Club has a gathering somewhere within reach of me I will bring the Maserati along (as I...

The Volvo was a lovely car, and extremely reliable. Had five good years with it but missed the six cylinders of the Z. Advertised it at 8pm on the Sunday night and had sold it at by 9am on the Monday morning! Bought by a Volvo dealership in Northampton to display in their showroom and take to...

Go for it! You are only here once and we are a long time dead! The SM is a beautiful machine. A bit like the DS, it looked like something from out of space when it first arrived.

A treble garage. I dream of that! Only got a single and the Merak only just about fits in it! Not surprised you miss your Jenson. Always admired those. Stunning gentleman’s cruiser.

I think the driver’s door mirror issue is all down to how tall you are. Harry much taller than me. I can see in it without any obstruction at all as I don’t sit as far back - but also I think my mirror is positioned further forward than on that test car. As I said in an earlier reply to someone...

Ok. Done a bit of research. As I said, the first Meraks had the SM dashboard and single spoke wheel. When De Tomaso took over control from Citroen he introduced a very boxy dashboard . . . and the four-spoke wheel to which you refer. Later they switched to the Bora dash and three-spoke wheel...

Thanks Sean. The car, as I am sure you know, was very closely based on the Bora - in fact from the nose to the back of the doors it is virtually identical. In order to save weight they did away with the Bora’s glazed ‘clam shell’ rear which used to lift to reveal the engine. This would have...

Yes. Was chatting to the Editor Danny Hopkins, who I know, and mentioned I had got a different car. He asked me about it and asked me to email him some pics. I didn’t realise he planned to use it until I saw the mag.

Actually the shop front there isn’t actually the workshop - that is down the entrance way on the opposite side of the road.

Yes have still got my Jaguar X300 which is my all-weather driver but I will be out in the Merak whenever the weather is dry. It only has 27,500 miles on the clock but I don’t worry about putting mileage on it. Don’t see the point in having a car and not driving it and despite doing the mileage...

He may do some jobs for me but there is an independent Maserati specialist in Chorlton near Manchester - about 10 miles from me - and I will probably take it there because they know their classic Maseratis. Though they also know how to charge . . .

Not power steering. The hydraulics work the brakes, the clutch and the pop-up headlights. But it is very light at the front. And the clutch is so light and easy to use which makes a change from most 70s’ Italian exotic cars.

All I will say is that it cost me considerably more than my 260Z and Volvo put together. I paid top money for it but it is in concours condition - I have seen a receipt for the paint job it received in 2020 which was nearly £20,000. Yes I have got the space saver wheel but I don’t carry it as I...

Yes. It has exceeded my expectations. Naturally, a number of things have already gone wrong with it because the previous owner only drove it a couple of hundred miles in 5 years and I have now pushed it into service - mainly electrical gremlins (and a snapped speedo cable) - but I am getting...

Well some of you may remember me on here - I had a nice 260Z for about 6 years which appeared on a James May TV show at one point - I eventually sold the car to Z Club member Tim Wray who I understand is doing a brilliant full restoration on it. After the Datsun I bought a Volvo 1800S which I...

    Fairlady at auction

Just checked their website and here is what they say: In line with the latest Government guidelines and advice, the auction will be completley virtual, and therefore we cannot offer a viewing day as we have done previously. However, we are increasing the video content of each of the cars...

And yet another! What’s going on!! Well - just had their catalogue through the post and no indication they are calling it off. Volvo running great thanks - went through its MOT last month with no advisories. 7200 miles since last year’s MOT.
