Silver Z in Earby - AMK Engineering?

Am moving near this area, and spotted a silver Z (240 or 260) parked outside this garage the other day.. They seem to have a good rep for classic car work, and so is this anyone on here's Z, and any recommendation about the garage it's currently at??

    Clutch slipping?

Car passed it's MOT (yay!) but has a few issues... Washers have now stopped working (although they worked fine for the MOT ;)) and the speedo cable snapped. More worryingly, in high gears (MOT station sorted out the carbs so I now have more power!) it slips (engine revs higher and higher but...

    South/South Central Xmas Meet 2012

South/South Central Xmas Meet 2012 - Venue Confirmed Last year I sorted out a meet at the Red Lion for the southerners, and have been asked again to sort something. Looking at the following: - The Good Intent, Puttenham (tastier food and a better pint you wont find anywhere else, plus the...

    Chrome Window Strips?

Will an early UK 260z chrome front window strip/insert fit a 240z? Just been given one (a neighbour saw ours was missing, so took it from a friend who had 2 of them breaking! Totally unexpected door knock last night as had no idea - he'd done it off his own back!) but it's from an early UK...

240Z Around Europe (Le Mans Classic & Beyond!)..

I've had a few PM's asking me to write up our trip around Europe in the 240Z. I've decided the people who've asked are just weird, but I shall oblige anyhow (always happy to post up pics of the Zed!).. So... We decided having bought the Z in 2011 that we wanted to use it, rather than just...

    Cheeky Monaco Circuit Run..

Got up with the sun for a quick cheeky blast around the Monaco circuit in the Z. Gunned it a little (I do not promote or condone speeding!) but was under the watchful eye of the local constabulary (cheering us on in fact!). Anyhow, can't do the circuit 100% but you can get most of it. Some...

What constitutes 'normal' 240Z running temps?

Finally reached Monaco, and at lunch time it hit 36 celsius while driving which, with the uphill roads with a fully laden car has kicked my temp guage into action. Anyhow, it's been running more than double what it normally runs at, which has me a little scared (although not hit red at any...

    Knackered tyres..

Tyres on the car looked fine before we set out on our journey today, but after 100 miles or so, no use for years and plenty of californian sun has quite literally made the tyres perish. Anyone know where we can track down 245/50 R14s? I simply cannot find any anywhere!!!

    Many thanks pmac!!

When one is driving the length of the country, and the electrics start to fail halfway up, who you gonna call?? :) Helped us out of a fix running on battery alone, diagnosing a failed voltage regulator, so big thanks pmac! Just lucky we got there really, especially with the rain in sections...

    Rear Knocking..

Ok, so the Datsun is now on the road again (well, once the number plates turn up!). Going for a drive around the yard, it's been picked up it has a knocking coming from the rear. Had the mechanic look it over, and he has narrowed it down to the suspension. We have aftermarket dampers, and...

Oh happy days!!! (Number plate sizes?)

The day has finally come, and we have a number plate certificate thing-a-me-bob from the DVLA! Means I can now go and get some plates made up!! One issue... What sizes are the standard plates? I now live 300 miles from the car so have no idea other than the front looks standard, and the rear...

    Failed the MOT....

After the last few weeks chasing people for parts here and there, scrabbling to get the car ready so I can go to Le Mans Classic in it, it's gone and failed it's MOT.. Here was me, on the other end of the phone, wondering what horrific bill I was going to be lumped with, shaking as I always do...

    Bumper Bolts?

Just a quickie - not having bumpers fitted when our car turned up, we now have the bumpers and brackets, but no bolts to attach the brackets to the car! I think the front brackets bolt with an M10 size bolt, but the rear seem smaller, but not M8 (which is too small). Any ideas anyone so I can...

Seeing as it's the week for posting up pics of your Zed...

Thought I might as well join in and show you what we're trying to get to the South of France in (what many of you have been of great assistance in helping out with!). Can't be arsed with all the inbetween shots, but we've basically gone from this: Pulling what little there was out to give...

Spares for a South of France run...

Right, with the 240z in the garage being prepped for it's MOT, I'm finding the odd failing items that mainly appear to have gone because the car has stood for so many years (many thanks to pmac and Mr.F for some odds and sods to get me running!). Thinking about it moving again, apart from a...

Does anyone know what screws in here?

Putting the interior panels in, I noticed one of them has 2 screw holes, rather than holes for interior clips. It's the two panels surrounding the side windows. Now I know the top one is for the coat hooks (took me a while but eventually that dawned on my while looking at the hooks thinking...

Centre Console Bolts + Fixing the Gearstick Gaitor?

Hiya, The wife thought it a good idea to get lots of bolts in so we wouldn't need to reuse the ones we took out of the car when restoring. Helpfully, she now can't find the four bolts (one in each corner) that hold the centre console in (the heater controls etc). Anyone know the right...
