Took the 280ZX for its yearly checkup was worried about the new MOT being tighter this time.

PAH in your face new MOT test! :D

Passed no problems, not bad for a 40 year old(ish - next year) car!

Unfortunately the 2010 Lexus 220d before me wasn't so lucky, failed due to smoke. :smoke:

Huw, I would be embarrassed to fail your car.

However tbh brutal our cars are not as environmentally friendly as modern cars that fail.

It is assumed that we don't do many miles or sit in traffic jams for hours.

We mustn't abuse the situation.

Seems now that cars will fail on
contaminated brake fluid,
Oil leaks
Visual smoke
Etc
All the thing your are likely to find on cars 40 years + that now don't need testing

When I took my red car for an MOT a few weeks ago I didn't realise it required an emissions test. Being a '76 it did and had a reading of 0.3. It's allowed 4 so it was massively under the limit. It may have something to do with the modern lexus v8 in the engine bay :)

So did they test it as an S30?

Yes. The car is a ‘76 280z so an s30. They were not interested in the year and model of the engine.
