Sean, if someone new to Datsuns buys it they may not appreciate the work involved and neither may their chosen garage. Also are they going to check the gbox over or try it as is?
Is the diff a good match for an S14?
The S14 is a great upgrade I agree. Had 3 cars with it.
It amazes me how old these cars are. I went to California in 1977 and this car was outdated then by the 280Z. It seemed so long ago and now this car is going to start a new life over here. Modern cars are far better built these days but they will be scrapped much sooner due to the electronics...
It's a great car and the sort of car I would have been interested in a few years ago.
My comments:
LHD - not a big problem for a 'hobby' car (few miles) and often better to keep a car original. However in a RHD country it's not a strong selling point.
Gearbox - selling a 240Z with a weak...
The car looks fantastic, I love it's look. Being completely honest there are 3 things that might be affecting the sale in the UK.
LHD, gearbox, dash cover.
What is the diff ratio?
It's not a good time to sell a car atm.
I'm assuming that Etype (XK) owners were being 'stung' with a QPlate status if they had to replace the front spaceframe from the bulkhead forward, off which the engine and suspension hung? Qplate means 'kitcar'
