Using an LD28 block (not just crank) as a base for a stroker....discuss !

Taller block, longer rods, better rod ratio.

L35 possible and which revs high too ! :)

I think its fairly old news Sean? there's been some engines in Japanese cars for years with a similar spec? Lots of chatter on hybrid z about it.

Maybe 'old news' but so areRB swaps and L28 strokers and we continue to hear about THEM !

There've been LD28 strokers in the US for over 10 years too.....how many in Europe ?

Small bore 83mm, and I believe you can only bore it 2mm?
Anymore and you would have to liner it so, becomes expensive.

Sean is only trying to get an answer for a FB enquiry.

No ! Sean is trying to share a discussion on here with those who don't have/do FB.

I spoke with Dave R last night, we discussed a current similar build and this'll be the second L35 having a Full-Race exhaust manifold whereas Dave usually prefers the Race-Sport.

Yes Matt and there is also the oil-pick up to play with too.

I’ve just thrown an LD28 block away, don’t tell me it’s worth a fortune!!
I looked into the spare wall thickness for a massive rebore, and don’t think it was there.
Still got rods I think if anyone’s looking.

I think they are bored for liners and certainly worth keeping. There will be a market for them.

What stroke do you need to get 3.5L? About 90? How high does that reliably rev?

So is this project for your own personal car Sean?

What bore size is Dave able to achieve??

I did a lot with LD28s in the late 90s, bloody scrapped some short engines when I sold the business in 1999, I did keep one LD28 crank but then sold it to somebody for a stroker for a L24, let it go for £100!! LOL.

I might still have a mould about for casting up alloy rear well sumps, which we used when we fitted them.
