over zealous moderation?

I know the admin types do a great job/unpaid/in their own time.

some of the moderation is a little on the keen side. I thought i'd post this over the locked thread about Vin's.

We should keep this sort of thing alive so that other do not become unstuck.

Buying a car with the incorrect vin is a subject very close to my heart! Involving some very popular 'experts and well regarded importers'. If ever there was a good thing we could do. it'd be this.

People are too keen to turn a blind eye when it suits them.

The forum has been devoid of moderation for quite some time, to it's detriment. Simply put, the way it has been running is putting people off joining in conversations.

The thread in question was locked because nothing new was being added and the discussion was going in circles. It's not been deleted (as some previous threads have been in the past) and will remain visible as a resource for any buyers.

If you want to start a new thread about what the club can do to help new buyers, how to identify the correct shell for year etc. - be my guest!

I don't see the need. Lots of threads are basically going round in circles, for some it takes a little debate and beating with a stick to see some points, I would have thought thats the idea of the forum.

How many threads do we get about brakes/suspension/varying models, all asking the same sort of thing, just with a new twist.

I don't know that I don't know enough to write a guide, I do know that I know enough to spot bits that some in the know, should know. Its just goes to show its those in the know that helps those that want to know what they need to know.

Hi Franky,

I agree with you that the forum should be for open debate but in some cases even beating until the stick breaks doesn't work.

It's absolutely fine to discuss VINs in other threads provided it's pertinent to that particular discussion. I've started a thread which hopefully some of the more informed members can use to help out new buyers.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you'd like to discuss further.
