260Z owner in Yorkshire

Hi everyone,

I've been registered on here for a while and owned my LHD 74' 260Z for 2 years now.

A bit of my Z story so far - I got the car with a 'running engine', and 'solid body'. Which turned into seized carbs and a rotted floor plan. It's been a slow burner as it took me a while to find out the carbs were seized, I was attempting to get the car running on my own (I'm a novice mechanic so a classic I don't rely on for commuting was the ideal thing to pick more stuff up). Sadly, all the simple bits didn't get it going and when a specialist took over they told me the carbs were seized. So the new plan is let the specialist get it MOT'd, I'll have plenty of time to learn how to repair it later!

It's had new triple webers and I've seen and heard it startup for the first time during ownership, this was July this year. Suffice to say it sounded superb and made me even more excited about getting it on the road finally. Next is tidying electrics and sorting the floor out.

In the meantime I'll have a go at refurbishing my 260Z wheel, or source a 240Z wheel to refurbish. And refurbish an original Z wing mirror as the one on mine is a cracked plastic effort.

This is the car getting delivered 2 years ago.

It hasn't changed a lot but that should change soon enough. :)

Plans for it are mostly original. No engine swaps or big interior changes. Just as close to concours as I can get it, a respray one day but that could be a number of years off. So paint a-side I'l like to get it running sweet, driving and handling as it should or perhaps with some minor improvements (advice welcome).

I came across Z's way too late in my life, only really finding out about them 3 years ago. The long nose coupe is my favourite car shape, and the interior styling is superb. I know prices are rising but even so they're a stunning car for still quite cheap.

Anyway, hello to all, I'm glad there's an active Z forum to join as forums have been an excellent resource in the past. Long may they continue.

Mr Ex Jnr - I'm near York. :)

Franky - It's at the Z Farm in Thirsk, I spoke to Duncan there months before I got my Z, when I was first finding out about them. I hadn't heard of MZR apart from people mentioning them on here, they sound good too.

Hi Andy and welcome :)

Nice that you've introduced yourself and explained whats going on with your car

Good luck with getting it sorted so you can enjoy it, you might want to choose another host site for your pictures as photo bucket doesn't allow other to view pictures unless you pay for the privilege. would be good to see pics of your car we all like pictures :D

Derrick ;)

MZR don't really do smaller stuff, they tend to just focus on the full blown commissions.

And lovely stuff at that. They are the specialists in yorkshire though.

Woody on here who must work for ZFM motorsport would be a handy person to have wielding a mig at your car though.

Still sounds like a local radio station to me.....

Yes. Its wrong that a company can fold, owing lots of money to people/companies then re-form with a new name. Never really got it.

I don't know the in's and out's of what did happen, I've come across a couple of companies that were owed a chunky amount of cash.

Its a shame as I think they just missed the bubble really. The yellow nissan car is really nicely done. Then there's some others..

Who would everyone say is the marque specialists now days?

Me neither, and would never deal with people who operate with such ethics and can't understand others who knowingly would, why would you risk your hard earned cash?

Anyway, back to the subject matter of Andy and his car, like many others I don't have access to photo bucket so unfortunately can't view the cars pics, nice to see another build thread, they're always interesting on the forum, just hope you can post further pics without using photo bucket.

Huge shame about photobucket. Used it for years but there's no point now!

Apologies for the tardiness, I moved house last week so been a bit busy to say the least.
