I love the Liftback Celicas of that vintage (RA28, TA27, RA25). They need to be the twin cam GT variants though with the 18R-G or 2T-G. That one from eBay is a US market one with the horrid Federal bumpers and 2.2 single cam. Ugh.

Love that body style as well, one of my favorites.

Been looking for some years now for a clean one but seems they are mostly gone or in very poor condition.

Try to refurb one of those would probably cost a fortune if you could even find the parts.

Engine swap is almost a must.

Now, I don't like that shape - it''s trying to be a Mustang. I prefer the earlier shape and yes in twin-cam spec.

But in principle, I'd have this model over a Toyota RA or Colt 2.0 Celeste.

Ultimately, if I wanted a sporting Japanese 2+2 it would be a C110 GTR but a well-sorted 280Z'll do me and my limited budget.

Whilst we are on brown Celicas, what about this 1980 RA40 model I have just imported from South Africa.
Has the proper 18RG twin cam engine, low miles, really genuine rust free super solid nice rhd car.

Not the prettiest body shape is it ? but it does have a certain charm.
Designed in America primarily for that market I believe.

Cheap at less than half the price of the earlier series car though.

My first Japanese car was a TA 2000XT (ok, slightly boring engine but with airco which was great for the London traffic) which I loved until I discovered Zs in 1988, the Toy was sold and I was in car wilderness until early '89 when I bought my 240Z.

How much:santab: ? LSD or not ? I love it.

Price is a difficult one, really not sure ?
Only a handful left and can't find any others around to compare.
Any Toyota enthusiasts on here who more ITK ?

Was thinking of £ 6950 asking price on cost plus small margin basis

Mostly original paint, like new on the undersides, never welded.
Nice interior, carbs just been tuned, 12 months MOT etc

LSD - I dunno ? You tell me. If it was standard ROW spec. then yes, it must have.

Aircon ? Not tested it yet, not warm enough oop North to need it

Not sure about stereo and not with car this week to check, it looks original fit so maybe just extra speakers in door cards ?
