Long Time Lurker, New Owner

Hey guys,

I've been lurking on these forums for a few years now - an old Z Car has been my dream since I was a kid.

I recently took the plunge and bought a car over in the US, pending final inspection, so I thought it would be about time I finally got an introduction post going!

I've been an active member on a few forums, namely Mx5nutz where I had built a supercharged MX5 and 911UK for a Porsche 996tt that I still own.

The car in Question

1972 Datsun 240z, modified to fit an RB25DET engine.

It's been repainted in Star Fire Blue from a 1998 Supra, which IMO is gorgeous.

I'll let the pictures speak on my behalf:

Currently the car is in the USA, hopefully being shipped towards New York where it'll be loaded into a container. I guess I'll get a thread up soon and document my adventures!

I hope you have purchased many parts to hitch a ride over.

I haven't, although it's not too late to do so! Only a few.

Any in particular I should go for? It's mainly replacement sections as the car has a rusty dogleg (rear sill) which I've assumed means it has spots of rust in the usual places.

Congratulation on the purchase.

I bet the the waiting is killing you! lol I know I was ridiculously impatient last year while I waited for mine to arrive last year.

I hope its everything that its been advertised to be and has no nasty surprises, definitely get a thread going with full details once you've got it over

I've lost our cat, it was last seen round the back of your car ...

The blue looks great. Look forward to seeing and hearing more when it gets here.

It certainly is! Luckily I'm going to be really busy for the next month or so which I hope can distract me from daydreams!

I'll get a thread going when I'm back in the UK and have a bit of spare time.

Thank you all for the messages, I'll get properly registered when she lands. For now, the car passed the inspection, highlighting the issues I already knew about only, and is now on the back of a trailer towards New York!

Small update, it's on its way!!

Unfortunately it's taken a little while longer than anticipated, but at least it's sea-bound.

Not looking forward to it coming through customs, but fingers crossed it makes it through without the high duty rate!

Why should it attract a high rate ?

ps watch out for the hurricane mid-Atlantic and U-boats.
