You buy blind - s*it happens, happened to me once and I know of others.

But that car is just 'ripe' for the boring, current trend of ZG arches, Romas makes new floors so back on the road in a few weeks.

Well - i bought around 30+ Z's from states over the years, and to be honest - this one is worst of all :D Even so i knew what i was getting - i wasnt expecting it to be so bad :D In pics it even looked OK! This was a package deal of 2x series 1 cars, and only at the port i knew there will be a problem when i got customs declaration papers telling me it was 73' car (even so both are 70') :D

I knew that im gonna kill it for parts worst case, but now i see that the only body parts that i can use are Hood / fenders and roof :D as Side sills, rear fenders are totally out from bondo :D

Best part - seller really told me that BOTH cars are great project cars, and that they are BOTH solid :D Yea right :D

Well, I admire your approach and attitude. Hope the other car is "solid" and what you hoped for!

You could probably buy an OK'ish car that still required panel work, floors and chassis rails, with an average amount of filler and rust for $5k. Then you have to add on around $400 to get it to the port(if its close, I've paid $800 for 1 of them), $1000 shipping, £300 UK port fees, plus duty/VAT on the costs. There's never a cheap import but if you can find a true rust free, untouched 240 from a dry state then you cant beat them.

Thing is, it's a business, it's not for us to know actual prices. We've all seen what they cost in the states and what they're being sold for here.

4000$ :) Yea, 'next to nothing' :) 3 years ago it was 'next to nothing' days ;) Not now mate, not now...

If you knew it was not great I can't see why you'd have paid 4K for it. even from exterior pics. There's lots of decent cars, well no where near this for the same money!?

Series1 car for 4k :) Do you have to ask more questions?

Ash tray cover alone - 700-800$
Original AM radio - another 900$
Rear diff / mustage bar / rear diff mount - easy 700$
And i can go on and on ;) I have 12 x 240z now, all will be restored - so buying some cars already in mind with them going in pieces to get other cars survive ;) Its not like i buy one car and complain...

I got 8K for 2x Series1 cars, 1 car is super nice, with all original stuff, almost no rust - another one is this one - so i cant complain really much, it was just to show 'new' people what you can get from states and how some people advertise cars ;)

If it's a earlier car riding on a '73 identity, what happened to its true identity and why isn't it being flagged up as the victim of identity fraud?

Serious offence in most US states.

Romas, call of those prices are what a few are asking on ebay, not quite what they sell for. A bit like the $700 2400cc valve covers.....
