An unexpected place to source tyres

Had my Volvo MOTed last week and got an advisory on the front tyres (down to 3mm). I have Pirellis all round so had a look at Pirelli prices online and ASDA of all places came up cheapest (£10 per tyre cheaper than the next cheapest). I didn't even know they did tyres. All you do is book through their website and choose a fitter from a selection they have in your area.

Ironically, I will be getting the tyres fitted at the MOT place I use anyway, but cheaper than they would be able to offer direct.

Yes I too have wondered about how that is possible but it all comes down to supply chain and storage costs. The labour being the constant, the online guys don't really have to have spare storage and the cost of delivery is much less.

Good find!

That would make logical sense Sean baby but not how it works around here. I did that with a "tyre" place. Fitting the identical tyre they had on the shelf, they weren't able to price match.

Another punter will pay full price and cover the cost of storage. Strange but true.

I don't think the MOT place will be bothered as they will get a fee for fitting the tyres from ASDA anyway.

When I was shopping about the 'Supply Only' tyre websites were quoting more than the 'Fully Fitted' price I finally got for the exact same tyre. I guess ASDA (Wallmart) have the buying power to get the lowest prices from the wholesalers/manufacturers.
