So gang, I was ooop North last weekend for a wedding at Clitheroe. Once we got off the motorway, I was enjoying the incredible views, grin inducing driving roads and the amazing road surfaces. Virtually zero traffic and plenty of overtaking opportunities. You Northerners have no idea how lucky you are!! You don't know you were born!! ;)

Even in a diesel Q5, I was loving the roads but wishing we had taken the Z; although we wouldn't have arrived as refreshed after 4 hours of her glorious (and imposing) exhaust note.

So it struck me that we have members all over the country who are keen drivers and have favoured regular roads. Tell us what your favourite roads / routes are. Let's try to compile a club best of list.

I would totally recommend ANY route around he Clitheroe area.

Last Friday from Oswestry up to Cumbria turn right along the A66 to Northumberland then down to Bridlington etc etc it was breath taking. Been doing what I do for 7 1/2 years now but this was one of those rare days where I could not stop saying wow all day long.

How weird. I was actually on that road (A59 Skipton to Blackburn and beyond) yesterday for the first time in probably 20 years. And I thought exactly the same as you, big smile on my face, more so as the sun was cracking the flags. Having driven the Pickering to Whitby road the other day, I'm feeling pretty smug about 't roads oop North

Pickering to Whitby over the north York moors is an epic bit of road, and one I'll def be taking the Z on over the summer.

Pretty much anywhere in the Yorkshire sales is great too - hop off the motorway between Halifax and Manchester and drive around saddleworth moor...

Yep anywhere up there is breath taking & to be fair it does not matter what you are actually driving ! but I guess to be in a Z would kind of be a huge bonus is some funny kind of way.

I've driven that road quite a few times but never in the Zed yet. I always say I will each time. It really is fantastic and on a good clear day you can see the oncoming corners well in advance with there being no trees and fly along.

The long A686 from Haydon Bridge towards the Lake District is one of my favourites too.

This is my backyard , i know the roads around here very well.
i live about 30 mins away from clitheroe in a place called longridge ,
the ribble valley countryside has some fantastic roads
the trough of bowland springs to mind, a nice scenic route with some great twisty roads.
