What did you do to your Z this week?

Changed the oil and filter - long overdue!

Finished off the (temporary) installation of a pair of re-trimmed leather Recaro seats (ex-Alfa Romeo). Just need to fab some 'proper' mountings.

As part of a interior revamp, I've been working on restoration of interior decals and switches. Pretty chuffed with results thus far.:)

Looks great, do you want to come and do mine next?

I went to look at the progress on my silver (now battleship grey) car. Nearly done.

Thanks Woody, lol... Nope! ;)
Excellent work.
Cheers thanks FB

What did you use and how Tim looks great
Derrick :)
Have you done the silver in paint or that stick/iron-on metal sheet?
I've searched for ages to find something that resembled chrome. Sprays are useless, always come out looking silver or at least the ones I have tried. The chrome paint kits are horrendously expensive and not sure of results.. Then I came across this..

After seeing several reviews on youtube for toy model application I thought I'd give it a go.

It is very chrome like and has the chrome shine, but much depends on application. Where some reviews say it is silver like, they are not applying it correctly. I wouldn't recommend it for large areas, it doesn't look flat and you can see pen marks, but for the switch bezels and lettering its superb.

The secret is to dab the pen until its fully charged and then do one continuous pass with the pen. Selecting the right nib width is essential for the one pass and gives the best result. Don't be tempted to overfill an area with a thin nib. I used a 1mm and 2mm, if doing again I would go for the 4mm on some of the lettering for ease of application. One coat is sufficient when applying a little pressure as you move. Works brilliantly on the bezels.

It's a little trickier to get the lettering looking flat and chrome like, but working fast and not going back with the pen (i.e. do one pass) does the trick. Any little bubble at the end of the pen stroke can be blown flat if working quickly.

I've no idea on durability yet. Some guy I noted has used it on his sink plug hole... I'm not so sure about that one lol... I'm leaving it a week or so to harden, then I'll test wipe with a mild dash cleaner to see what happens.

I know it'll never be finished but another item (thankfully more affordable) on my wish/to do list. Really great results, mine certainly is showing its age with some patina. Thanks for sharing

I’ve been putting my engine back together again.

I’m waiting for my trigger wheel to be welded to my crank damper before I can finish it and put it back in the car.
I’ve also added a 2nd lock to the garage, since this character tried to break in last Sunday.

My early Safari Gold Zed 10/70 build had the wrong head (E88) and big cam. Changed out to a re-freshed E31 head and stock cam.
All going back together after removing the emission pump etc, will save all that in a box.

Thanks all.
Lots of original patina and no accident damage.
3 golf ball size rust spots on dog legs and door all cut out and repaired with fresh metal so rust free now.
Early Safari Gold cars becoming one of my favorites and this already had the 5 speed swap so that's nice as well.
