I'll get a pic of it tonight and share!! I personally detest it, but it's funny to look at.

Yeah as I said before I'm not sure what I'll do on the plates. I did ask DVLA today whilst on the phone registering for historic tax and they said that the black and silver does follow the rolling 40 year exemption rule - but I've emailed them for written clarification as well.

The girl said it's a really common question at the mo so they have a script to read about it.

I'll see what I get from them in writing and make a decision from there.

Glad you finally found yourself an S30 Jon!
Lovely colour and a nice choice of wheels!
I don't dislike the BM8s but I'm not a fan of stretched tyres and it looks like they were the wrong size/offset, sitting about an inch proud of the arches! :(

Thanks Mark - you were a great help in what to look for etc. Yeah the stretched tyres had to go. I disliked the look and they always make me worry - same as some of these extreme wheel cambers you see some cars running. Scary stuff.

Hope the resto of is coming along well!

Note from DVLA direct about using the old style plate - now mins is registered as historic they are legal :)

Dear Jon_flynn,

Thank you for your enquiry received on 2/4/2017.
Your case reference number is XXXXXX.

There are specific requirements for the display of number plates for vehicles manufactured on or before 1st January 1977.

Since 1st April 2017 vehicles manufactured before 1st January 1977 can also display the older style plates. In order to qualify the vehicle must have been changed in to the Historic Vehicle taxation class.

Vehicles made before 1st January 1977 may display traditional style “black and white” number plates. For example; white, silver or grey characters on a black plate.

We have produced an easy to understand guide, INF104 which provides additional information on permitted dimension, display, font and shape of number plates for vehicles.

The INF104 can be downloaded for free from: www.gov.uk/government/publications/vehicle-registration-numbers-and-number-plates

I hope this clarifies matters for you.

That is gorgeous!

I love the colour (it reminds me of my old sunset 350Z) and I think you're spot on with the wheels.

You must be chuffed!

It doesn't suit the Z but it is kinda funky!

I might have bought it myself if Sean didn't get there first. Not that I'd know what to do with it
