Samuri Gathering V 2017

Hello all,

I have just noticed that the dates have been announced for next years Donington Historic Festival, so I thought I'd start my usual thread even though there is only limited information at the moment.

The most significant change is the date as it will now be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 28th,29th and 30th of April 2017 so no Bank Holiday Monday. Any thoughts on this, should we focus on just the Saturday and Sunday or are people still happy to come over for the Friday too? I know I am.

Opinions, suggestions and anything else as always welcome. I know we've talked in the past of trying to get some sort of evening socialising organised but never quite pulled it together, so that might be something we could work on?

For the social media types among us I have started a Facebook Group and Event page and will add a link to that to my signature below.

That's it for now, but hope to see everyone there next spring :)

Well done JK for getting involved again.

For me Sat and Sun only would be fine - I would attend both days - 3 is too much (according to my wife).

Being local I wouldn't be interested in a social evening but I can understand why others would if they are staying away from home.

Small update.

The club is now registered and as such we have the club ticket discount code again which for next years event will be 17ZCCZR.

I'll post full ticket info in the new year, but if anyone needs any info in the meantime just give me a shout.

Cheers,

JK

Ticket News

Seeing as how the event raised its head in the other thread that Woody 928 started I thought I'd better post an update with regards to the tickets.

Irrespective of feedback given to the organisers, the format is very much the same as it has been since we started attending and is based on the 2 for 1 ticket offer as follows

TICKETS

All car club tickets must be booked in advance.

Please note the club ticket booking deadline of 5pm on Sunday, April 23rd After this date the tickets are full price, so don't leave it until too late.

See Tickets levies some additional charges on top of our ticket prices - a booking fee per ticket to cover their admin costs, plus a transaction fee on the total order.

Advance ticket type Booking Fee/Total ticket cost

£16 Friday single day ticket 80p (so total ticket cost £16.80)
£21 Saturday or Sunday single day ticket £1.05 (so total ticket cost £22.05)
£30 Friday & Saturday 2-day ticket £1.50 (so total ticket cost £31.50)
£34 Saturday & Sunday 2-day ticket £1.70 (so total ticket cost £35.70)
£48 3-day weekend ticket £2.40 (so total ticket cost £50.40)

So basically, if 2 of you are sharing a car for the weekend a full 3 day ticket costs you £25.20 each which is great value for money.

The only caveat to this is, there is a TRANSACTION FEE - The transaction fee is a one-off post and packaging cost for the total order, and that is the same whether a member is buying one pair of tickets or 20 pairs of tickets. The transaction fee is £1.95 per order for first class post and £6.40 for secure post. You will be able to choose their preferred method of postage at the checkout.

If you are planning to visit alone with your car, like Rob Gaskin for example, it might be an idea to try and organise buying a ticket with another single driver, that way you half each others costs and whoever orders the tickets can request an additional infield pass for the other car.

Children aged 15 and under (accompanied by an adult) get in for free.

EACH PAIR OF CLUB TICKETS WILL INCLUDE ONE INFIELD PARKING PASS

Order tickets online

http://doningtonpark.seetickets.com/tour/donington-historic-festival/

You must enter the club's unique offer code and press the 'use code' button.

Please note that car club discounted tickets are offered in multiples of two, and the price shown on the ticket site is the discounted price for just one ticket. When you add two tickets to their basket, they will therefore be getting two tickets for the (full) price of one. If you want four tickets for the price of two full-priced ones, you must click '4'!

Buying tickets over the phone

Our ticket hotline number is: 0844 873 7355 You will need to quote the car club code to take advantage of the club offer. *(please note, calls cost 7p per minute plus the phone company’s access charge).

Ticket Dispatch will be about three weeks before the event.

As always if anyone has any queries or needs help with anything just give me a shout and I hope to see you all in the Spring

Cheers,

JK

I'll be going along for the sat & sun. Got a room booked at the Cedars hotel :)
If anyone want to do a ticket split as suggested by JK I'd be up for it as going along on my lonesome.

Anyone coming past MK with an extra seat?

I've not booked anything yet however I'll almost definitely be doing the Saturday if not the Sunday as well. I'll be coming up from Surrey on the Saturday morning and will be passing Milton Keynes.

Do you need a lift?

This is what a club is about, nice to see instead of all the critics pulling cars to bits

Edited to say I posted this even before I read the thread that Richie got abused in.

I got to read the unedited version last night. Blimey! I did wonder if Mr Samuri had had one too many sherbets.

Me too, an unwelcome and un-warranted reply
A complete over-reaction out of all proportion to Richie's inoffensive post I thought.
