Got it back together, tuned it and it runs like a dream now.

Decent set of ram air filters, clean carbs, new correct gaskets, tuned and balanced carbs has certainly done the trick.

All in time to get down to Goodwood the weekend before last for the Pistonheads Sunday service.

Now onto the next iteration of the Z with my Christmas purchase so if anyone needs an L26 and gearbox, let me know

Looks good mate, glad to see its all coming together now and a new engine has been sourced :) Certainly sounded as though it was running nicely at Goodwood but I'm sure it'll be a new and very rare beast by the time its finished.

I take it being a UK car the gearbox is a five speed? if so I may be interested for the 240z...

Yes it is a 5 speed, also had a brand new clutch about 300 miles ago as well.

The only thing I would say about it though is that you have to nurse it into second as there isn't much syncro left.

If you are interested, you should come and drive it before I take it out so you know exactly what you are getting.

The new clutch would be a bonus, sounds like a rebuild may be prudent though. I may be interested, however it all depends on how much would you want for it?

I honestly don't know how much it's worth. I was thinking £200 or so but I would take whatever people feel is a fair price on it.
It's the only Z I have ever driven and you just have to match the revs and it drops straight into second.
Other people driving it tend to grind it though.
I don't have any other boxes to compare it to though.

As I said, you are more than welcome to come and drive the car before the engine comes out so you know exactly what you are getting.
Same goes if anyone is interested in the engine. I will sell that complete with carbs, manifolds, downpipe, ignition, alternator, fuel pump etc. ready to bolt in and drive.

Cheers for the reply dude, I'm not really up to speed on these things however that sounds fair to me. I'll take it for £200 and put it aside for my build as and when I get around to it.

Have you got any sort of idea when your likely to remove it? (I'm in no rush btw) Drop me a text and let me know your availability as if the offer still stands I'll come and drive it while the option is still there just so I know what I'm getting

Sounds good Mark,

I am in no rush but may take it out sooner rather than later if I can get the engine sold to recoop some of my costs so far. Again though. Not sure what a complete, running, good condition L26 is worth or if anyone would be interested in it.

Drop me a text if you find yourself in my neck of the woods and you can take it for a spin as long as it's dry and not too salty on the roads.

Fwiw, you could have my old 5 speed (fs5c71b). Given Russel's description, I think syncro on 2nd may be better on mine.
BUT mine has no bell housing (Since it's being used on my car with the fs5w71c) so you'd need the bell housing from Russel's or somewhere else.

Great thanks man, another piece ticked off the list :D Ok makes sense, I take it we're potentially talking about sometime in the next couple of months then?

Yeah will do however I appreciate with the weather at the moment that may be a bit difficult...

Hi Jon, thanks for the offer that's much appreciated. When I get around to it I'll be getting the whole gearbox overhauled with new syncro's etc before it gets installed anyway so I'm not sure it will be of any consequence, and at this way I get the whole package. Thanks for the offer anyway though that's much appreciated
