Looking good. Lots of room in the engine bay to work. I had the V8 out of my old fastback last year before selling it and there was about 1/4" either side, not good.

Is the engine the original and is it being rebuilt?

It's an l28 but yeah the plan its to strip everything down and rebuild.. Apparently it already has some kind of non-standard cam and who knows what else so I'm keen to get it all checked out.

Just a few little bits left to remove and it'll be ready for it's appointment at the bodyshop in February.

Good stuff Mr T - so what exactly are they replacing metal-wise? Those inner wings look pretty damn good. When will you get it back from the bodyshop as you've probably got four months to get everything else done ready to fit back on :D

Rear hatch slam panel, dogleg replacement, floorpan repairs, some repairs to the outer wings and headlamp cowls - the usual stuff!

Not sure what the timescale is but yeah, with some room in the garage it'll be onto fixing up all the other bits I took off :D

Nice work.

Lots of hours but in the end a real beauty you'll have.

I'm hoping so - there's so many good orange ones recently (and on the way). I'm going to have to step my game up!

Body shop has done the initial stripping. Nothing unexpected hiding so that's positive! Looks like I'll be switching back to the original doors though as the replacements aren't as good

Good stuff Mr T. Have you decided whether you're going with body colour underneath and in the arches etc or black stonechip or stonechip then body colour etc, so many ways you can do this.

if it was me I'd go for black underneath I think ... you're doing a more orig style resto, yes?

Not sure, I was contemplating original colour with no stonechip but it depends on the condition of the existing stonechip when the shop really examines it.

Its got to be colour underneath.... thats how they came from the factory, anything else just reminds me of 80's welding coverup, even if its not.

Looks great dude, nice to see progress being made in the right direction. I bet you can't wait for it to be finished!

I'm not a stickler for everything being OEM so I'm happy with black unseal/stonechip rather than body colour. I'd do what you want to, its your project after all :)

More progress! Fixed floor, seat mounts, door speaker cutouts, door latch mount, wings, dog-legs, slam panel etc.

Good to see this making progress, the floors look remarkably solid as does the majority of the car!

I take it there's been no horror discoveries?
