It needs the dust cover that partially shrouds the yoke removing. It's only held on by a couple of spot welds. Otherwise the driveshaft will not insert fully into the s14 box.
thanks for the info thats exactly what i wanted some clear instruction of what to do I didnt want to jump in and cock it up. appreciated mate thank you
As mentioned before, contacting pmac from this site is a good idea. He may be able to provide you with the parts and advice you need (he and Skiddell have provided these as complete or partial kits). The bellhousing machining is quite critical and I hear not all machine shops are actually willing/able to tackle it properly. Luckily pmac has a specific arrangement with a machine shop who can do it. He also has a jig to modify the later gearbox crossmember properly.
As for driveshaft shortening, that should be easier to execute. I had a quote of 70 quid for a driveshaft specialist near me in Cheshire (Firow Propshafts) to shorten, remove yoke dust cover, balance, and paint.
dug up my old thread saves making another on same subject.
So I have my box now my next question while its out i may as well do the clutch is it just the Datsun clutch I need or do i need to frankenstein one out of an S13 one as well?
