Had zero luck with bumper or grill.

I have a spare grill, its not great, but passable, your welcome to have it free + postage and then if/when/maybe you get something better, send it back to me, as i would like to keep a spare for the exact reason you need one right now! ;)

Hi mate, saw this earlier if it's any use to you.

Sorry to read about the crash. I remember before I acquired a Z, you danced around my car in yours on the M1 and made me very jealous!

They actually look a lot better than any of the others I've seen but as I've already received the Marugen ones they won't be needed. Tempted to buy them as spares though.

Thanks, If I can't find a good one by the time I need it could I contact you and get it then?

It might be got most of the parts but I might be able to get the bumper and grill from him, I'll check it out, thanks.

Would have made me very jealous if I had seen a Z before I had one. I'm just thankful its all fixable and will take the chance to improve it.

Let me know if you go ahead with this.

I will do, it's still a plan, although I doubt much will happen for a couple of months as the cars just going back on the road after 8.5 months and I want to have some fun with it with what's left of summer(if you can call it that).
If the guy I hope will make the grille for me does, I may just ask him if he'll make a short run of 4 or 5, but I don't want to put him under to much pressure lol One step at a time and all that :)

I've been at home for a 6 weeks now but I haven't been able to do anything due to this:

IMG_3215.jpg

Broke my ankle in two places during a wake boarding session, kind of a freak accident as the rope got caught round the board when I fell backwards, which is something that just doesn't happen normally. So of course when I fell the rope went slack for a second then as the boat was still moving at about 17 knots it suddenly goes taught and tries to accelerate me from zero to 17 by my right leg, needless to say my bones didn't stand up very well to that abuse.

Thankfully I've had that boot off for a week now and I'm able to walk again, though not got full strength or mobility back yet, that will take a another month or so.

Not much has happened with the car, I have to wait until I'm home next in May to go to court to try and win my insurance case and then get the car repaired.

Got some spacers form T3 so I should be able to fit the alloy hubs now.

My Marugen Shoukai wings turned up from Japan, best quality fibreglass parts I've ever seen, they are very light only 2.15kg each. Does anybody know what stock wings weigh?

I also have a new airdam and headlight bucket in fibreglass, but I'm not sure yet if I'll use them as the quality isn't great and while I can make the airdam look good with a little work the shape is off so my carbon splitter doesn't fit it right, so I'll either have to order the same airdam as before from America or order and make a new splitter. Not sure how well the headlight bucket will fit, but I'll try it and see, only problem is if its bad then I'll have to wait for a new one to turn up from somewhere.

Got another beautiful piece of art from Pro Alloy, the photos do it no justice. Will look much nicer than the grubby stock plastic washer tank. I love that I can think up an idea or design and they are able turn my vision into reality.

Got a new full length grill from Skillard:

My Restored.Jp carbon fibre bonnet turned up, its full carbon inside and out, not like most so called carbon bonnets that are only carbon skin over fibreglass. Quality looks great and it only weights 5.75kg, I believe my stock one will weigh about 17kg so thats a good weight saving. I'll be painting the outside and leaving the inside, although the main underside of the bonnet is bare dry carbon, I may put a light coat of clear over it.

Beetween the ligher bonnet, the wings and the alloy hubs I hope to be able to save at least 20kg, not much but every little helps, I'll get my car weighed once Its all built again and see what she weighs because I've no idea at the moment.

Stock wings must be a good 5-6kg?
In this case I hope 6 because that means it will be more weight saved for me.

I will weigh them whenever I get them off.

That washer bottle is stunning, can I ask what that cost to make..?
Its a true work of art, some skill required to make it. It cost a lot, £291. But the stock one was letting the bay down so its worth the cost to finish it off.

The wings do look very well finished from the pics.

Not really that bad for something bespoke that looks as good as it does

That washer bottle is good enough for Irish Whiskey.

It will be good to see this car back in one piece (and you).

Sorry, but I think that's going to look just awful. Your car is better than that!

Sorry to hear about the ankle. Hope it mends well. I had a nasty compound fracture of my left ankle in 1974, and it still hurts now...

It sure will, I miss driving it a lot, not that I'd be driving it at the moment anyway.

Its still one of the most entertaining and enjoyable cars I've driven.

I disagree, I don't think you'll really notice it unless you look close, its the same as stock only with about 3 more slats to take it the whole way, I've always though that the grill not going the full way was a bit odd. If it turns out to look bad I'll just remove it but it looked fine when I set it in place to test.

Thats not good, I hope mine won't bother me for the rest of my life.

Hope you get mobile soon, we all don't bounce as well as we used to do ;)

A stunning collection of parts as always.

Hi, I have got to ask you, how much did you pay for the plastic wings and the carbon fibre bonnet, as I have been looking on certain websites and they seem to be extremely expensive. I need wings, doors, bonnet and tailgait, so perhaps you could point me in the right direction, of who supplies them and the sort of price I would be looking at. I got to admit I have been following your thread, as my new project is very similar to yours and by looking at your project saves me a lot of time and effort finding suppliers.

Thanks very much.

They were extremely expensive, if you are still interested after me confirming this let me know and I can PM you details, but be prepared to pay for them. Cheaper alternatives of the same are available, but I wanted quality and perfect fitment so I wasn't prepared to skimp on this area.

I probably would have just got a replacement metal fender if I could, but I had no luck finding one in a condition I was happy with. The Marugen fenders fit as good as stock but save some weight and won't rust so it made sense to go with them in the end.

Good luck on your project.
